Director Statement

Lockdown is a comedy thriller that pays homage to the B movies of the 20th Century, and draws inspiration from the silent movie era with regard to storytelling and acting techniques. The film narrates the story of a couple trapped under quarantine with their two cats. The food is running out and everybody is getting hungry and cranky. They become paranoid and fearful, which leads them to act out in gory, gruesome, and grisly ways.

Lockdown explores the themes of paranoia, resentment, emotional suffocation, and cannibalism due to confinement. If you think your annoying boyfriend is plotting to kill you, isn’t it better to kill him first? And then eat him, because otherwise it would be a waste?

The filmmakers hope that audiences are amused and entertained, while at the same time understanding the importance of human—nonhuman relations. This movie will be relatable to anyone who has found themselves confined for an extended period of time with another person. And finally, the film should serve as inspiration for people to treat their pets nicer, in case they discover that their pets are plotting to murder them.
