Born and raised in Massachusetts, in 2008 Al began work as a lecture demonstration technician at Harvard University, dazzling students with live science demonstration experiments. The following year, he discovered the joy of making short videos, using the lecture demos as his main subject. By 2011, he had his first viral YouTube hit with Pendulum Waves, a spellbinding look at a hypnotic wave machine. Ten years later in 2021, he made the award winning short documentary Linnea’s Brain, a profile of a person whose life is tied to two seemingly unalike disciplines and cultures: science and art. In 2022 he wrote, directed, and edited Liz’s Peeps, a romantic comedy about a failed homemade dessert project that turns into a chance at love. At present, Al’s film journey continues, writing, directing, and editing short documentary and narrative projects.
