Life on the Edge - The Changing Nature of the Outer Islets

Outer islets are an extreme habitat. There is little shelter when a storm hits, and no shade from the scorching heat. Yet, these islets are home to a wide variety of life adapted to exceptionally harsh conditions. In spring and autumn, the outer islets serve as important resting places for migratory birds, and many birds also stay to nest in the extreme conditions of the islets. The skerries are also the realm of seals.

Life on the Edge – The Changing Nature of the Outer Islets is a nature documentary about the fascinating, yet extreme, nature of the outer islets. The documentary captures life on the islet throughout the year and day, including from the perspective of a sea eagle in the sky and the mysterious world of the bladderwrack beneath the surface.
