Director Statement

'Lifeline' is a short film made during the mandated self-isolation of 2020 due to COVID-19. It was self-recorded by actors in isolation and directed via webcam calls.
‘Lifeline’ was written and directed by award-winning Welsh writer and indie-filmmaker, Lewis Carter, and produced by Kate Beasley.
The film was made in order to tell a specific story about a unique relationship between two people during isolation. But, by zeroing in on a small story—it’s the creative team’s intention to create something that everyone can relate to. The film aims to put life during quarantine ‘under the microscope’ and make the specific universal.
People turn to stories and films as cathartic experiences during times of struggle. So, ‘Lifeline’ will join the chorus of projects large and small that seek to answer a call for content that deals with issues people are experiencing during isolation. The film will also act as a fictional time capsule that people can look back on to evaluate what life was like during the pandemic of 2020.
