Massimiliano Nocco is an Italian actor, director, and screenwriter. He was born on September 8, 1970, in Carbonia (CA), to a family of peasant origins, the twelfth of thirteen children. At the age of 18, he moved to Florence, where he completed his studies. In 1998, he graduated from the Centro Iniziative Teatrali (C.I.T.) in Campi Bisenzio (FI). After appearing as an actor in several theater productions, he decided to dedicate himself to film: from 2000 to 2010, he attended the Immagina Film School in Florence, where he earned certificates in directing, acting, directing, editing, and screenwriting. Since 2001, he has made several experimental short films, directing, acting, and writing them. He has also collaborated on various film and theater projects as an actor, director, and assistant director. In 2019, he shot Faula, an autobiographical work in the Sardinian language set in Sardinia in the late 1970s. This was followed in 2020 by Quarantine (Ti tengo compagnia), in 2021 by Giocattoli (Toys), in 2023 by Il Ladro di sorriso (The Smile Thief), and in 2024 by Happy New War; all of these short films have been selected and awarded at various film festivals worldwide. He has played various roles in both his short films and several feature films, including the BBC's Raphael - A Mortal God (directed by John Holdsworth), Né Terra Né Cielo, Tott and Horror Vacui (upcoming) (directed by Giuseppe Ferlito), Firenze Sotto Vetro (directed by Federico Micali and Pablo Benedetti), and Confiteor - Come scoprii che non vorrei fare la Rivoluzione (directed by Federico Micali and Pablo Benedetti) (Bonifacio Angius).
