Devin Scott is the co-founder of American Dream Cinema, one of San Diego’s top film and video production companies. He has written, directed and edited numerous award-winning films in nearly every genre, including horror, comedy and documentary. His 33 Emmy Awards — for directing, writing, editing and cinematography — are a testament to his passion for filmmaking.
Shooting "Libertyville" was a magical mix of joy and serendipity. Usually everything that can go wrong on a shoot does go wrong, but this time everything worked perfectly. The locations were perfect, and the California wildfires created a beautiful, soft exterior light. Even shooting during the pandemic meant that all my A-team crew members were tired of sitting at home and came out to play. This was my first time directing a film in a foreign language, so my focus was entirely on the emotions of the actors. The writer and lead actress, Suzana Norberg, helped me keep a close watch on the authenticity of the piece. I hope the world loves this slice of life as much as I do.
