Experiencing Interruptions?

Lemon Sucks

As Pablo is reflecting on the way how his life has turned out, he receives an unexpected message from one of his friends. The sad message doesn’t change his current mood, but his next action instigates a chain reaction that touches the lives of many without discrimination.
The consequences of that event will vary, giving always different outcomes in a parallel dreaming finale.

Director Biography - Laura Calle

Laura Calle is a Colombian filmmaker based in New York, constantly reinventing herself across continents. After some studying in architecture, she turned to film as a way to merge structure with emotion, and space with memory. Her work blends personal history and surreal storytelling to explore the ironic, tender, and often absurd truths of being human. With an eye for the poetic and the uncanny, she crafts intimate portraits of what it means to live, feel, and transform. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Film and Video Production and is currently pursuing her Master’s in Directing at the Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema.

Director Statement

We’ve often heard that being good protects us from harm, but life proves otherwise. Good people suffer, while others get away with anything.
Lemon Sucks is for those who still believe life is fair. It’s a story about randomness… how a single innocent moment can trigger chaos. The same action can lead to opposite outcomes, depending on chances and context.
At its center is a simple piece of lemon, tying together a chain of absurd, unpredictable events. It’s a reminder that we’re all connected, whether we see it or not.
