Legacy
Legacy was created in an attempt to not only raise awareness of some amazing historical women, but to also expand the definition of the Documentary. Like the real women it depicts, it boldly asks that we look past surface appearance to find there is so much more. With evocative fragments of visual and verbal brevity, the film entices and encourages further investigation by the viewer; to serve as fuel for these women’s rankings in internet searches
Legacy celebrates women in history who scaled both literal and figurative heights to redefine genders, cultures, races …in ways that are incredibly relevant today. Director, Margo Weathers knew a film about them had to encompass the same rule-breaking spirit, so it purposefully takes on the form of the Trojan Horse. With the surface appearance of a fashion film, we find education inside. If a Ken Burns Documentary and an issue of French Vogue had a baby - it might look like this.

Margo Weathers came to filmmaking from the world of Luxury Retail Advertising. She brought with her the belief that Design and Humanity should get together and have babies. That offspring is evident in her vision of combining authentic humanity with warmth, wit, and style. Her honest, invested, and supportive manner with on-camera talent of all experience levels rounds out her signature style.
Her work includes repeated beauty and fashion campaigns for elite global brands such as Garnier, Clairol, Olay, Clinique, Zales, Coppertone, and a lauded Oscars campaign for JC Penney. Legacy is her 4th short film, and first independent film. A native East-Coaster to the core, she is one of the few smiling on rainy days in her current home of Los Angeles.
Here’s to beauty always stemming from truth; and to truth being forever fashionable. The pairing of Design and Humanity produces amazing offspring.
