Le Voleur Volé

EN : A clumsy but sneaky thief makes a living from breaking into empty houses and stealing portraits that afterwards he sells back to a dishonest collector. In spite of being careful he makes mistakes and the press quickly publishes a warning, calling for attention against the frequent robberies in the neighborhood. A woman detective decides to discover the thief’s identity and starts looking for him. She gets a glimpse of him selling the stolen portraits to the collector. A few days later, the thief breaks into a new house. But just as he is about to take down the portrait from the wall, a large cloth stretched at the other end of the room falls down and reveals the investigator. She is standing behind a film camera. The flash sparks. She just caught him by stealing his own portrait!

FR : Un brigand balourd mais sournois a pour profession de voler des portraits. Il s’introduit discrètement dans des maisons vides, dérobe les toiles puis les revend à un collectionneur véreux. Mais sa discrétion n’est pas sans faille, la presse publie rapidement un appel à vigilance pour cause de vol fréquent dans le quartier. Une enquêtrice décide de découvrir l’identité du voleur et se lance à sa recherche. Elle prend sur le fait le brigand en train de vendre les portraits volés au collectionneur. Quelques jours plus tard, le voleur s’introduit dans une nouvelle maison. Mais alors qu’il s’apprête à décrocher le portrait du mur, un grand tissu tendu à l’autre bout de la pièce tombe et dévoile l’enquêtrice derrière un appareil photo argentique. Le flash explose : elle vient de le capturer en lui volant son portrait !

Director Biography - Lorenzo VIALE

EN : Graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Cinema and Audiovisual from the Sorbonne Nouvelle in Paris, Lorenzo Viale also completed two 6-month internships in the culture department of the Île-de-France Region, in which he handled the film and audiovisual support funds.

Lorenzo Viale is currently in his first year of a Master's degree in Cinema and Audiovisual still at the Sorbonne Nouvelle.

In 2018, he directed his first short film "Charlot Apothecary", using Charlot’s character (which he also played) and all the techniques of the 1910’s movies. This project was supported by the Chaplin Family (Victoria Chaplin). Moreover, Lorenzo Viale is a circus performer and practiced burlesque stunts at the Piste d'Azur circus school between 2017 and 2020.

In 2023, he directed his second black and white silent burlesque short film, titled "The Stolen Thief". The movie received three awards at the Objectif Censier festival and was in the official selection at the Paris Court Devant festival.

FR : Diplômé d'une Licence Cinéma et Audiovisuel auprès de la Sorbonne Nouvelle à Paris, durant laquelle il a réalisé deux stages de 6 mois à la Région Île-de-France, aux fonds de soutien cinématographique et audiovisuel, à la direction de la culture, Lorenzo Viale est aujourd'hui en première année de Master Cinéma et Audiovisuel toujours à la Sorbonne Nouvelle.

En 2018, il réalise son premier court-métrage "Charlot Apothecary", en reprenant le personnage de Charlot et toutes les techniques des années 1910. Dans ce film, il interprète le rôle de Charlot. Ce projet a était soutenu par la Famille Chaplin (Victoria Chaplin). Circassien, il pratique la cascade burlesque à l’école de cirque Piste d’Azur entre 2017 et 2020.

En 2023, il réalise son deuxième court-métrage burlesque muet en noir et blanc, intitulé "Le Voleur Volé". Le film reçoît trois prix au festival Objectif Censier et a été en sélection officiel au festival Paris Court Devant.

Lorenzo est actuellement en Master en Cinéma et Audiovisuel à la Sorbonne Nouvelle.
