Director Biography - Myles Ross

My name is Myles Ross, and for the last 4 years, I have committed myself to film theory, production, and all aspects of the art. Since about my final year of middle school, when I first found my love for cinema, and had my first attempt (and subsequent failure) at production, movies have been pumping in my blood stream. I have worked since then, whether it means late nights studying books on framing, lighting, and general mis en scene; the hallmarks of cinematography, or countless hours watching "making off" documentaries by some of my favorite current working and directors (Tarantino, Wes Anderson , Kurosawa, Spielberg, ect...), I try to take in all the information I can, so I can replicate it, and (hopefully) perfect it in my own work. Some of the happiest moments of my life as a young adult have been spent on Saturdays, in some forest or heavily lit set in my basement, sweat dripping down my face, and camera in hand, trying to find the best way I can direct my "crew" (friends) to create the image, and thus emotion I want for the scene.

The films submitted here, is the creme of everything I've directed from my high-school years. Some made for school classes, but many made on my own time and effort, and all written and directed by me, made from my deepest place of passion and pride as a creative. As a current high-school senior, I plan on continuing my film studies in college and getting my masters degree in fine arts for directing. During, I'll be submitting and attending various festivals here in Seattle Washington, and then getting my foot in the door at a some major studio in California, to start off my career.

Director Statement

"Good enough is good enough, but perfect is... perfect. That's my perspective on filmmaking.

As visual creatures, I believe humans have an innate, almost magical, understanding of film, greater than any other artistic, or narrative form. Our eyes are both the gateway to the soul, (and in a very much literal sense), the way we experience the world, so the stories, chronicles, and even lessons we learn from the silver screen resonate with us and ease into our minds in a way nothing else can."
