Director Biography - Damon Beirne

Damon Beirne is a Brooklyn based director and editor with a diverse portfolio that spans multiple cinematic genres. Influenced by both classic and experimental filmmaking, he combines these influences to create unique genre-blending works and has recently found a home in documentary filmmaking.

His documentary directing credits include the Issa Takeover series, featuring musicians on the Trans Trenderz record label, Lavender Outlaws, a short film about a Queer country music festival, and the upcoming Mx Nobody: Notes on Nope, which highlights performers competing in Brooklyn's Mx. Nobody Pageant.

Director Statement

Making the film, Lavender Outlaws, was an experiment in self-reliance, by learning what type of film I could make with a crew of one. I think it came out okay, and I won't forget to check the lens and sensor for dust ever again.

I hope this film expands your idea of who country music is for and that you are inspired to check out the music of some of these artists. They're the nicest group of people I've ever had the pleasure to meet and most of them are constantly touring. I hope you can make it to a show and experience this community for yourself.
