Director Statement

'Late Bloomer' is about a woman in her later years persisting in her passion for photography even as her eyes begin to fail her. This story isn’t purely focusing on dreams alone. The story raises a question: Do dreams have an expiry date?

The harsh reality is everyone is running out of time. Life is short and no one lives forever and when we pass on our dreams will follow suit if we don’t fulfill them. I believe that everyone should take every opportunity there have in life to do the things they desire. There is a common perception that once you have reached a ripe old age it is too late to pursue your ambitions and that one should start preparing for death. The truth is everyone has the same deadline: death. Life doesn’t end when you’ve hit your 70s or 80s. It ends when you breathe your last breath. As long, as one is still alive and well they should be free to pursue the things they love.

'Late Bloomer', focuses on the tension between the pursuit of dreams and the reality of mortality.

The main character faces the reality of pursuing her ambition at an old age. She is diagnosed with glaucoma which alludes to death. Losing one of her five senses is an unnerving experience yet she still persists in doing the thing that she loves.

This film aims to act as an inspiration to those who dare to live out their dreams and give hope to the aged who have yet to fulfill their goals. Motivating people to seize the moment and live life to the fullest.
