Lakadbaghha2(Hyena2) - The Monkey Business [WIP]

Weeks before Arjun and Akshara are supposed to get married,
Arjun’s sanity is lost when Akshara goes missing!
Akshara was on a mission in Bondega - a forest island near North Sulawesi - to investigate a high-stakes animal trafficking case.
This is the play area of a dangerous animal trade Kingpin - Mario.
It’s impossible to reach Mario, however, there is a golden opportunity. Mario is hosting a bunch of billionaires to his island for a three-day martial arts tournament, which of course is just a facade. The real agenda is to auction his prized possession - the lone surviving celebes crested macaque, locally known as, The "Yaki" Monkey; the most "human-like" animal.

An unflinching action saga powered by India’s fiercest hand-to-hand combat — driven by a warrior’s love for animals and a vow to protect the voiceless.

Director Biography - Anshuman Jha

Anshuman Jha is an Indian actor, writer, and filmmaker best known for his fearless storytelling and commitment to socially conscious cinema. He made his acting debut with the critically acclaimed Love Sex Aur Dhokha (2010) and has since built a diverse body of work across film and theatre. As a director and producer, Jha is the creative force behind the Lakadbaggha franchise — a unique blend of action and advocacy, spotlighting animal rights through genre cinema. His work often explores the intersection of entertainment and empathy, earning him recognition as one of India’s boldest emerging voices in independent film. His Directorial debut "Lord Curzon Ki Haveli" premiered in Europe at Razor Reel Flanders. And got a rare theatrical release for a independent film in October 2025. The film will available on Jio hotstar in India and Apple worldwide starting March 2026.

Director Statement

With Lakadbaggha 2, my intent is to continue giving a voice to the voiceless through the lens of our animal-loving vigilante universe 'Lakadbaggha'. This chapter expands the canvas beyond India, delving into the dark, often overlooked world of the illegal animal trade nexus between India and Indonesia. This film is my love letter to animals.

At the heart of this story is the endangered Yaki monkey — a species whose population has plummeted from 90,000 in the 1990s to under 9,000 today. These creatures, like so many others exploited for profit, have no voice in the systems that endanger them. Through this film, I hope to raise awareness and spark conversation around their plight.

Rooted in action and genre cinema, Lakadbaggha 2 uses its thrills to draw attention to real-world issues. It is my honest attempt to merge entertainment with empathy, and to remind audiences that heroism can lie in protecting the most defenseless among us.
