LA MARELLE

What happens if you bring all your diverse neighbours together on a common ground? In all their differences the
neighbours from Residence Clemenceau (Brussels) try to rethink their gardens in a black box studio. With the
studio as an experimental and radically different context, they are encouraged to have a conversation through
questions. What can this experiment teach us about the way we live together in big cities?

In the documentary "La Marelle", Laura De Baudringhien offers an experience during which she brings together her neighbors, who each have small gardens adjacent to hers in her apartment in Anderlecht/Clémenceau. She invites them to meet in a radically different context and place: a black box studio. Using the studio as an experimental meeting place, the chain-link fences are represented by an abstract backdrop, a gridded rectangle with a few garden items as visual references. In this common space, they discover and exchange, in all their diversity, on the themes of anonymity and encounter.
