LOVE THY NEIGHBOR
This script was inspired by a deeply disturbing personal experience. While walking in an affluent area, my husband and I, who are both Hispanic, were presumed to be criminals and threatened with gun violence. I decided to channel the pain and outrage of the situation into art.
My hope was to write a compelling plot and character-driven crime mystery/drama that touches on gentrification, racism, and classism, while laced with faith and hope.
LOGLINE:
When a former NYC detective with a checkered past comes to California to live with his adoring daughter, he begins to unravel the shocking truth about a murder that rocked her idyllic community. But the deeper he digs, the more danger he unwittingly puts her in.
TONE:
This modern crime mystery is meant to have a charmingly nostalgic storytelling vibe, which should appeal to a diverse audience.
The story also has tons of heart and will ultimately uplift and unite people.
Thanks so much for your time, and enjoy the read!
Sincerely,
Jean
