LOTUS
After the tragic deaths of his wife and daughter in a car accident, Adityo Mukhopadhyay dwells under a layer of pernicious reality. Unable to face the void, he centers himself under an imaginative bubble with the belief, "They are not dead, they are still alive."
Thus, the dilemma and hallucinations persist for a long time. Will Adityo be able to face the tyrannical reality, or will he accept his imagination as the truth? That's what covers the utmost shades of "LOTUS."

Mainak Mukherjee is a filmmaker based in Kolkata, India. The essence of storytelling, which is personal and intricate, has pushed Mainak to discover, observe, and layer vivid cultural contexts around the quintessential narrative, eventually layering them in the visual palette of Cinema. He has worked as a creative director for many award-winning filmmakers, dwelling extensively on the essence of filmmaking.
His debut short film, "LOTUS", centers around the diversity of human emotions underlying the subtext of grief.
Mainak will soon be helming the director's chair for his debut feature film, "Khunnas", a psychological drama that is currently in pre-production.
Grief has always been a cumbersome event to center the conversation around or face in reality. The layers and shades of grief are indeed personal for each of us. Some might take a day to overcome it, some might take years, and some never do. The essence leaves scars on us, which are everlasting.
"LOTUS", is my answer to the statement, What is grief to us? It took me almost an entire year to portray and justify the characters underlying the subtext. Eventually, I wanted to put into practice the ideology that there is no ending to grief; it's personal to the very core.
