LOGICAL FALLACIES

The art world's shift to online presence has brought both opportunity and censorship. Social media, while amplifying artists' reach, also labels art as "obscene" due to automated systems.

Historically, art faced censorship, like during the Renaissance when nudity was covered up, only to be restored later as societal norms shifted. However, contemporary social media practices suggest a regression to such censorship, impacting artists' freedom and careers.

PHALLACIES, a movie by diverse artists in 2024, became a symbol of resistance against this digital censorship. Its mere title sparked widespread bans, highlighting how algorithms control what we see, often bypassing our freedom to choose. This documentary is not just about the film, but about challenging the narrative on art and censorship in the digital age.

Director Biography - Domiziano Cristopharo, Jon Devlin

Jon Devlin was formerly an independent pro wrestler who went by the ring name Devlin Valek. His experience with stunts and fight choreography lead him to working on a scene in Amazon Hot Box. Since then he has had starring roles in the feature length films, Joe Stryker and Mother Noose's Once Upon A Nightmare. He has also worked on short films with starring roles in multiple short films such as DJ Slay, The Hiker, Icons of Horror 3, and Ritual.

Domiziano Cristopharo, an independent film director from Rome, has been the first Italian director in years to try and revive successfull the erotic/horror film genre; has frequently been compared as a perfect mix between Fellini and Dario Argento: he is simultaneously extreme in style, shocking, and yet classic.
To those who define him "pornographic," he responds by quoting Picasso:
"Art is never chaste and we should keep her away from pure ignorants. It it were chaste, it wouldn't be art at all."

As chance would have it, both of them have been nicknamed in underground film circles PENIS GUYS because of their penchant for nudity.
PHALLACIES becomes the official manifesto of their artistic philosophy, a playful clash between 2 titans and pioneers of the use of the male body stripped, yes, but from false moralism and useless prejudices and stereotypes.
