The Soul of the Party

The story of this movie starts way back in time, precisely in 2015, the year of beginning of the Party of Parties tradition. A big party in my Moneglia's house to celebrate my birthday. To invite friends I made small video-invitations, but slowly from small sketches we came to make real movies, taking inspiration from the classics that we love. For the last 3 years we have been inspired by Dragonball, the Lord of the Rings and now Frankenstein Junior. And this is where the story, that we are about to tell, begins...
Every year, Albi, for his birthday, organises a gigantic party at his seaside house: the Party of Parties. Parents, relatives, and neighbors always try everything to stop him. However, this time, something worse threatens to put an end to the party...

Director Biography - Alberto Strano

Alberto Strano was born in Genoa in 1992. During his high school years, he made his first videos, including a feature film. In 2011, he graduated as a visual graphic from Art School Klee-Barabino in Genoa and later on in film directing from SDAC Scuola d'Arte Cinematografica. Strano then worked on several short films, experimental videos, animations, projection mapping and the documentary "The Grey Zone" (2013), winner of the 17th Genoa Film Festival. In 2014, Strano graduated in Multimedia from School of Cinema and Television in Milan where he realized XY, a video installation for a live concert by Enrico Intra, featured in different halls and theaters throughout the city. Lately Strano works as a director for the documentary “Nequaquam”. Currently, he is operating as a videomakerfor italian television Mediaset and international program WellcomeLeap.

Director Statement

In the world of documentaries, I found the freedom I was looking for to explore the themes that resonate most deeply with me nostalgia, time, my Liguria, and the fragility of human nature, along with a critique of its highest and lowest forms of thought. Art offers the privilege of revealing oneself, of being seen with complete honesty. And that is a form of liberation.
With my fiction films, on the other hand, I’ve rediscovered the joy of doing this work.
