LAMENTATION

Samuel is a young, zealous, newly arrived Filipino expat in Dubai. While his younger sister in the Philippines lacking financial support for his studies and their needs tied up with his avaricious mother oblige him to become the breadwinner of the family. Samuel's idealistic hope turns into his worst nightmare when his family demands abrupt.
After his mother being engaged in misconduct of finances and oblivious to the hardship Samuel undergoes overseas just to meet such demand. Soon after Samuel enthralled by the people around him expressing their sympathy and concern turns into strange occurrences that made him distrustful to everyone including himself. With the help of Gerry his roommate who seems to be aware of what's happening with Samuel. Both meet its end with a peculiar revelation that makes the embodiment of Lamentasyon.

Director Biography - Archie Pereira Enriquez

Chino is an artist and a self-taught filmmaker born and raised in the Philippines. Working for Upnext Studio, he creates visuals on a variety of media platforms. He is frequently commissioned for his videography, photography and design work. Archie has directed many short films for various film festival in Dubai such as the Dubai International Film Festival 48 Hours Film Project and the Emirates Short Film Festival. His prolific body of work includes Switch, Perfect wife, Nothings Gonna Change to name a few. His works garners a collection of award and recognitions.

His entry at this year Emirates Short Film Festival entitled “Kaarawan” (Birthday) won “Best Film” while he received the “Best Director” award. The film also became one of the finalists in Los Angeles Cinefest and IndieWise in Miami, Florida. It was also selected as official finalist to AM Egypt Film Festival 2017 and in The 24FPS International Short Film Festival (formerly WESTfest) in Texas, USA.

Recently, Chino received the highest honour in his career when he was awarded as “Filmmaker of the Year” at the 3rd edition of The Filipino Times Awards in Dubai. The award was given to him for his outstanding contribution and success in the field of filmmaking in the UAE that have created a buzz for championing the Filipino artistry by having an all Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) as cast and crew.

He also created a multi media group called People on the Go who composes of young and talented individuals based in the UAE.

His first full length movie Lamentasyon was shown in Reel Cinemas in Dubai through Vivamax, tickets were sold out and the movie streamed on the online platform KTX.PH. The reception on the movie was highly recommended.
