LAMA MANI - The Story Teller in Art

Lama Mani is a traditional Tibetan Buddhist storyteller, who tells stories based on ethical codes of conduct. They go from place to place with a set of large thangkas (traditional Tibetan painted scrolls) and explain the moral concept of karma and encourage compassion for all living beings. Today this storytelling tradition is slowly dying both inside and outside Tibet.
Tashi Norbu, a Tibetan Monk, Born on 7th July 1974, in the beautiful valley Jigmenang in Bhutan. His Father's name was Kama Gyatso and mother's name Thupten Dolma. He is greatly influenced by his grandparents.
Today, Lama Tashi is an established Thangka painter and famous contemporary Artist in the world. He is a storyteller in an ART, who is spreading the enlightenment and the stories of Lord Buddha through his paintings and with the ethical codes of conduct, illustrate the moral concept of karma (cause and effect) and encourage their audiences to feel compassion of bodhicitta.

Director Biography - BEENU RAJPOOT

Beenu Rajpoot is an intelligent Indian filmmaker, known for her documentary films, lives in Delhi. She is also an Editor of "Wings of Vision Magazine '' registered with RNI (Office of the Registrar of Newspapers for India) and Gen Secretary of Agrimaa Society of Arts Delhi (a Regt. Society which works for Indian art & culture). From the last one and half decade she is continuously promoting Indian Art, Culture, Literature and health through films and other different mediums & platforms. She is also 'Fit India Champion’ in the Fit India Movement launched by Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi in Sports Authority of India (SAI).

She is also a member of IDPA (Indian Documentary Producers Association), IFTDA (Indian Film and Television Directors' Association) and SWA (Screenwriters Association) Mumbai. Till now she has made 34 documentaries and many more are coming soon. Her documentary films have won many awards. She has worked with many superstars of Bollywood like Dharminder Deol, Akshay Kumar, Ranjit Singh, Late Tom Alter, Gautam Ghambhir, Bhasha Sambli & many more.

Director Statement

A documentary film is the great way to understand the depth of the subject and culture. And Lama Mani film is one of them. Lama Mani are performers who belong to a popular religious tradition. They share roots with the Tibetan Opera, which is an important element of Tibet's intangible heritage. These wandering storytellers expounded the religion's tenets by reciting hagiographies from memory and showing narrative scroll paintings.
