Kumaran
Kumaran, the movie, is about the irony of human perceptions and the universal common denominator of life that drives mankind but often unseen. At the outset, Kumaran is just another man who lives in the fringes of social acceptance for some reason; but the stark reality that he is a mirror image of every human out there (and perhaps a better one), is exposed as the story unfolds.
The story is set in the backdrop of a picturesque village in Kerala, Southern India, blessed with lagoons, rivers and palm trees. Kumaran, the protagonist is seen as a rough unapproachable character, a drunkard, struggling to meet the ends; but at the same time spends time on seemingly anti-social activisms and agitations. A glimpse of what he really is flashes in front of you when someone in town passes, but it is when a disaster strikes the village that his true identity is revealed, leading to the exposure of the irony of life, the complexities of how humans define good or bad and the commonalities of interests that come wrapped in different colors. The movie ends with a reminder that ultimately it is all about survival and everything else is a facade.

This is my attempt to come back to my real passion, after performing executional roles in film-making after I graduated from the Film Academy. This is my earnest attempt to present before you a profound concept using a simple story, intertwining cinematic concepts as much as possible within the boundaries and constraints of a low-budget short film.
