Kiswahili Kitukuzwe (The Glorious Swahili) is a 15-minute film that highlights the beauty and true essence of the Swahili language through its grammar and usage.
It begins with a catchy stanza from the talented poet, Hemed Abdallah, followed by the popular actress, Rukia Ngonyo, who plays Mwana Kupona. This film brings the voice and face of Fumo Liyongo back to life through his popular poem that he used to conspire with the servant, Sada, to help him escape prison.
This film highlights the grammatical structure of Swahili; its Ajami and Roman alphabets; Swahili sayings; idioms; similes; riddles; and proverbs.
It mentions the celebrated Swahili writers and poets such as Muyaka wa Muhaji, Shaaban bin Robert, Siti binti Saad and Prof. Nabahani.
