Director Biography - Pai Chen

Pai Chen is an independent animation director and multimedia creator from Taiwan, and the founder of Studio Nono.

His works combine animation, music, and AI-assisted visual storytelling to explore memory, loneliness, companionship, and the fragile emotions of everyday life.

Through hybrid digital workflows, he seeks new possibilities for independent filmmaking, creating intimate stories shaped by fantasy, music, and emotional storytelling.

Director Statement

Kirikko: Crossroads began as a series of individual music performances. As more songs were created, they naturally formed a single musical journey across different American landscapes and musical traditions.

Rather than telling a conventional story, the film invites the audience to travel with Kirikko through three different musical worlds, where blues, country, and the open road become one continuous performance.
