A couple moves in together, onto a narrow boat in London and they are forced to overcome the psychological chaos that surrounds them. Will their love survive as the sinking cracks of their relationship hit breaking point?

Director Biography - Joshua Jones

Hello Cinephiles, I am Joshua Jones, a Trained Actor turned Writer Director, a working-class hybrid, born in Wales and from the country bumpkin fields of Norwich with an origin story from the concrete jungle of Aldershot respectively.

I am a tenacious filmmaker who has transferred over from Acting to focus on my aspirations as a Writer and Director. After graduating from the NFTS, My goal has been to get onto as many sets as possible, working from the ground up to learn new skills to advance my career. Work hard, impress, and grow my knowledge in multiple disciplines of Filmmaking. Whilst, I still contribute to continuing to make, a high-quality, emotively immersing, and grounded body of short films. My vision is to engulf the audience with hard-hitting narratives that leave them with a sucker punch, questioning the world around them. I am a working-class creative, who is a newly Disabled Filmmaker. I was raised by Lesbian mothers in a blended family.

This is my first ever film that I have envisioned to reality. I wrote, devised, completed pre-production, and shot the film all in 5 weeks. As the Writer, Director, Producer, Production Designer, First Ad, Make-up artist and the many other jobs along the way, with a small cameo role in the film to top it off. The genius, Taika Waititi eat your heart out.

I made the film while gaining a place at the prestigious National Film and Television School course, studying on their part time Certificate in Filmmaking course as a Director, whilst working a muggle job to pay the bills. I took the advice of the great Christopher Nolan, I built a supremely talented Cast and Crew of friends and contacts, grinded my butt off, and got out there and made a film. Got it in the can. Pulling favors and investing in my future.

Director Statement

As an Auteur Director, who also appears in a short cameo, I want to follow the greats and build my career from here. I am certain that this will be what I will do for the rest of my life. I believe the film deserves to find its audience. With private screenings, I found beauty in showing the film to a younger audience which was invigorating to connect with people who resonated with the reality of suffering with mental health.

"This is addictive to tell stories, something I cannot turn back on. It is hard work, it is fun, and it’s something I can’t voluntarily turn back on. I thrive when telling and devising stories. My passion is infinitely growing. It’s something I must and will do."

My heart lies in the Writer Director pathway, and I have been screenwriting since a young age. I have set out goals to make one of my two features that are at draft stages 6 and 3 respectively.

I have stories to tell and an unwavering work ethic, I just need the support now. I am not rich and don’t come from a film family, we are working class, but I love this with all my heart. Please help me to continue my journey, screening at festivals. Giving this film a chance of success, that I will grab, so I can develop and grow to the reality I can see.

I hope you can see the potential for this being my first calling card as a director. The shots are also envisioned by me, in a precise Cohen brother style. I have gone beyond the standard wide and close-ups.

I am in development currently for my next short, titled “SAME YOU”, which tells my own personal, battle after my Stroke brain Injury in May 2023.
