Saurabh Dixit is a 24-year-old young Indie Award-Winning Filmmaker from Film and Television Institute of India (FTII Pune). He has produced and directed up to 7 short films. He made his first short film at the age of 15 on Tiger Conservation which won "The Best Short Film" with Conservation Message (Student Category) at Central Indian Highlands Wildlife Film Festival. Apart from this, he has worked as a cinematographer for various films and advertisements. He is from Bhopal, India and is a User Experience Designing Student at Symbiosis Institute of Design, India. His film "Present" won him the Best Director award at Buddha International Film Festival 2019.
I produced and directed this film, Killat, after coming across two families fighting over the most basic necessity to sustain one's livelihood. "Killat" is a short film that comes from the desire of highlighting serious water crises that has plagued India for quite some time now. The scarcity of clean drinking water is a huge problem and many people have lost their lives striving to get access to it. Later, I found out that this was a problem in my locality as well where people in nearby slums had to fight over drinking water. I came to realize that people have lost lives around me for the same. These observations deeply affected me and this film is an attempt to highlight and bring up awareness among people who do not believe that such a thing would ever exist.
