Keweenaw Waterway Lower Entrance Light

The Keweenaw Waterway Lower Entrance Light was built in 1919 to provide navigation to the Portage River in Keweenaw Bay, near the town of Chassell, Michigan.

The lighthouse, which is located offshore in Lake Superior at the end of a 3500' concrete breakwater, was automated in 1973.

In 2014, the Keweenaw Waterway Lower Entrance Light was deemed excess by the US Coast Guard and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
