Kanashimi is the most personal project I have ever embarked on. This film is inspired by my own journey of grief and resolve after my father passed away in 2019. The rollercoaster of emotions was not something I was prepared for and the only way I was going to find my way through the darkness was to do the only thing I know how to do - make a film. Kanashimi incorporates many themes that have come to define my life as an artist and as a father. Grief, just like cinema is universal and I hope the film has a profound impact on all who see it and hopefully for audiences, they will recognize how grief and love transcends all of us.
