Kaina

Kanak's life takes a complete turn when his father discovers a shocking truth about him. Disgusted and ashamed, Kanak’s father forcibly removes him from his mother's care and delivers Kanak to Khansa, the esteemed leader of the Eunuch community. Kanak is renamed Kaina, symbolizing god’s creation, by Labdhi, who becomes a mother-like figure. Kaina navigates life in the Kinnar community; she confronts the difficulties and hurdles that the Eunuchs face. Under Labdhi's nurturing guidance, Kaina slowly finds solace and acceptance within the community. As the story progresses, Kaina is in yet another helpless situation, feeling as if the world has altered again. The film presents a poignant portrayal of the Eunuch community, offering a profound glimpse into their experiences and struggles.

It was there, surrounded by fellow enthusiasts and immersed in the world of filmmaking, that I truly found my calling. Whether it's crafting compelling narratives through the written word or visualising captivating scenes on the screen, my love for writing and filmmaking fuels my creative journey. Stepping beyond the familiar, I'm someone who thrives on exploration. Traveling to new places has always been a source of inspiration for me. The sights, sounds, and experiences of different cultures fuel my imagination and breathe life into my work.

Director Statement

Our film is full of emotions, focuses on exploring themes such as love, sacrifice, guilt, and shame. Eunuch’s are a part of our society, and yet they are ostracized from it. Through Kaina entering their world, we unfold the difficulties they face throughout their lives and yet somehow manage to sustain themselves and come out strong without fearing any. The camera acts as an observer and tries to capture all the characters very closely with all the minute details. I hope the film brings forward some poignant truths about our society that will raise some hard-hitting and pertinent questions. We hope that the film stays with you long after the closing credits and could somehow help to initiate a change in society where Eunuch’s could also be treated as a normal being.
