Robert Asencio is a proud artist from New Jersey with a Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre from Kean University. The greatest lesson acting has taught him is the importance of self reflecting on one’s own experiences in order to bring characters to life on stage with truthfulness and empathy. Robert is also a dedicated musician (Bass player), visual artist, and filmmaker. He’s played and performed with an array of Heavy metal bands in the Tri-State area and has honed his skills over the years at his beloved Hellhound Studios in Rahway, NJ. As a visual artist, Robert credits Jean Michel Basquiat as his greatest inspiration. He has showcased his art work at the James Howe Gallery (Kean University), Newark School of the Arts, and Atelier Rosal (Rahway, N.J). Robert‘s love for films has inspired him to write screenplays and explore the technical aspects in film. His most recent film KNIGHT has received numerous Film Festival Selections which include the Garden State Film Festival (NJ), Queen City Film Festival (NJ), and Independent Shorts Awards (LA), where his film won an Honorable Mention Award for Best Drama Short. His continued study of directing, cinematography, writing, editing, lighting, music, visual arts, and acting. Has fed his artistic life with an everlasting joy that he is very grateful to have found. Ultimately, he believes that all artists must strive to build a deep personal relationship with their art forms.
KNIGHT was inspired by personal events in my own life. I wrote this script to hopefully comfort those who have lost loved ones in their lives. I wanted to express the notion that the people we lose are never really gone. They live through the many loving gifts they've shared with us during their time on this earth. My goal with this film is to show that the time and connection you share with the people you love will live on forever. They will never fade because we are a piece of them in this life. Because of this, they will be eternal residents in our hearts and in our dreams.
