Director Biography - Navarrete M. Luis

Luis produce his first feature film " Minotauro" in 2005. The movie was shot in 16 mm and won the category of best picture in the Colorado film festival in 2008. In 2016 he rolled out the rock documentary " Estoy Aquí por una Noche; the days with Abbie" which won the category work in progress in Mérida Film Festival 2015. Since then Luis has been working on a horror short-film called "Knifehand" written and Directed by him. This film has the mission to bring back practical effects using and animatronic hand and zero CGI to make it look very real. Knifehand is going to be released in 2020. Luis studied electronic engineering and graduated in 2003 to start working in the industry producing videos and Special effects for corporate clients. In 2004 their company gets hired to build the miniatures for the movie "Zapata, el sueño del Heroe" working with Oscar winner "Eugenio Zanetti". A couple of years later he was working on Resident Evil 3 which was shot in México building props for the movie, and in 2014 went on a 2 weeks internship in L.A. to work with two times Oscar winner "Ian Hunter" on the project "Kaiju Fury".

Director Statement

In a world where everything is digital; I like to produce real images and characters to make a balance in todays media. I am in a crusade for bringing back the technics and craftsman of practical effects and analog images.
