Jump the Fence

Time is the enemy in this behind the scenes documentary adventure in no-budget filmmaking. Jump into the action with actors Britt Harris and Molly Muse as they trek to Brazil for the making of Ale Paschoalini's feature film, Raízes.

Will artistic vision prevail as our skeleton crew battles the elements in this high pressure race against the clock?

Director Biography - Molly Muse

Molly made her stage debut as “piece of trash” in an elementary school play about recycling. She went on to earn her Bachelor’s Degree in Theatre Arts: Performance from Portland State University.

Memorable lead stage roles include: Rumors, Crimes of the Heart (Irene Ryan Award: Best Supporting Actress,) and Woyzeck. She received a grant to direct Philip Ridley’s stage play, The Pitchfork Disney at Theatre Theater on Belmont street in Portland, Oregon.
After college, Molly hit the screen as Mona in Steven Richter’s award-winning indie feature, Birds of Neptune.

She then moved to New York City where she worked as a bartender, birthday clown, and originated the role of Mabel in Ishmael Reed's play The Final Version at The Nuyorican Poets
Cafe. As a film director, Molly was the recipient of the “Best First Feature” award at the Arizona International Film Festival for Jump the Fence: Brazil; she produced the film with a crowdfunding campaign and recently sold it to The Ovation Channel.

Molly is currently in post production with a 30 minute short film entitled, Wrap Me in a Sheet which she co-wrote, co-directed and co-starred in with her dear friend and partner-in-film, Britt
Harris. Britt and Molly are in the writer’s room for their next dramatic short and for a comedic series.

During the first year of the pandemic, Molly started her screen printing business Mother Jane Press and homeschooled her two stepchildren part-time. Molly is a dedicated artist, wife,
stepmother and entrepreneur who puts her whole heart into everything she does.

Director Statement

My artistic relationship with Britt Harris is the soul of this project. We met as actors (cast as sisters) in an indie film and have developed a vital and loving creative partnership.
We’re both driven to create, to work, to make movies. But actors need to be chosen for work. We originally made Jump the Fence in an effort to create our own opportunity in film: to act, to direct, to produce. We didn’t want to wait in line anymore. It has since transformed into an expansive education in how to make
something beautiful and real and funny within the vision of some of the world’s best indie filmmaking talents.

An artist at work is so interesting to me. When I’m struck with inspiration, I go nuts with energy. Seeing that spark alive in other people, and then documenting what they do with it - how they turn it into a movie - is the best. It’s an honor to be a part of and a thrill to watch.
