Gaby Smiths is an Argentine director and producer specialising in genre cinema with a strong international presence and a focus on commercially exportable content. He is the founder of Lion Films, a production company through which he has directed over 450 music videos for global artists such as the Pixies, Jethro Tull, Peter Hook, The Magic Numbers, Attaque 77, and Peter Murphy, developing a solid visual narrative aimed at mass audiences.
In film, he has built an efficient production model within the horror genre, one of the most profitable on the international market due to its relatively low cost and high demand on streaming platforms. His debut feature, Los Turistas (2023), won five awards and secured global distribution across multiple platforms (Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Roku TV, Tubi, Plex, amongst others), validating his ability to generate internationally competitive content.
His second feature film, La Hacienda (2024), built on these results with seven international awards and distribution deals with platforms such as Black Mandala and Red Owl, as well as channels including Prime Video and AMC/AMC+, consolidating a replicable model of production and global sales.
In 2025, Smiths made the leap into international co-productions with Almost Forgotten (Canada), and expanded its network of partnerships with projects in the United States and Europe, integrating talent, financing and foreign distribution from the early stages.
He is currently working on international projects —Jingle Hell (UK/Italy), Where Love Lies (US) and Los Invisibles (US) — with release windows scheduled for 2026 and 2027, targeting a combination of festival circuits, international sales and streaming platforms.
His films combine an authorial identity, high-impact storytelling and a clear commercial focus, positioning him as one of the emerging voices in horror cinema with the greatest international reach.
JINGLE HELL was conceived as an unconventional Christmas slasher and a love letter to the raw, atmospheric horror cinema of the 1970s and 1980s.
From its cinematography and pacing to its performances, the film embraces an old-school approach while subtly incorporating modern post-production techniques, preserving the handcrafted feeling of vintage horror through a contemporary lens.
Rather than relying solely on jump scares or extreme violence, the film aims to create a persistent sense of discomfort and disorientation. Through shifts in rhythm and an atmosphere of uncertainty, the audience is invited to share the characters' feeling of being lost, with the constant suspicion that something even worse is always waiting around the corner.
At its core, JINGLE HELL explores the idea of monstrosity through a human figure who has become a cannibal, blurring the boundaries between victim and monster, innocence and guilt, and good and evil.
The choice of location was also essential to the film's identity. We chose an old railway museum as our main setting, a unique and evocative space that allowed us to recreate the nostalgic atmosphere of classic horror while giving the film a distinctive visual identity.
Ultimately, JINGLE HELL is a Christmas nightmare about loneliness, human savagery and survival, filtered through the aesthetics and spirit of classic horror cinema.
