Experiencing Interruptions?

Of Color

Of Color documents the Jewish women of color who contingent of the 2019 Women's March.

The Women's March remains the single largest mass activation of people worldwide in history. Since then it has played a major role in resistance to Trump's agenda and mobilizing hundreds and thousands of leaders to organize, run for office, and work together to win justice for women and all marginalized people.

As its success grew, so did its critics. The Women's March movement became subject to accusations of antisemitism. Reasonable concerns from within, malicious reactionary forces from outside, and everything in between threatened to divide the movement, and put in danger the progressive agenda it has championed since Trump's election.

Many women, including fellow Jews I know and love, decided to choose to part ways with the movement. But many, led by Jewish Women of Color chose growth and solidarity. Black Jewish women and Jewish Women of Color who live in the intersections of oppression, did not have the luxury of changing movements like they would change a job or a home. These women held a myriad of different opinions on Women's March and antisemitism, but they all agreed that the answer to division is building, and so they did.

This short film documents their controversial and exciting joining of the Women's March in DC in 2019, the Women's March leaders who called them to the front of the march, and the debut of their power to the world on their biggest stage yet, marking a major historic milestone of a powerful political and cultural voice that you will surely come to know.
