James Helsing is an alumnus of London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art in England.
His interest in filmmaking blossomed as a pre-teen, when he drafted his friends into his home movies; 8mm camera in hand.
He made his feature film directing debut with "Prescience" starring Oscar nominee Eric Roberts, TV legend Linda Gray, René Mena and Emmy winner Mike Manning, which enjoyed a healthy run on the festival circuit and picked up several trophies along the way... including three Best Director nominations for Helsing.
In 2022 he directed the independent LGBTQ horror/murder mystery feature "Martinez, Margaritas and Murder!", which he also wrote. It stars René Mena, "The Nanny" star Nicholle Tom, Emmy nominee Gregory Zarian, Danny J. Gomez and "The Nun" star Bonnie Aarons.
In 2024 he directs the small town murder mystery/horror feature "Gruesome" from his own screenplay. It is co-produced by and stars "The Nun" star Bonnie Aarons, Nicholle Tom and René Mena.
