Ayushi Khurana is a filmmaker with a distinctive voice And Perception of the world. She creates bold and engaging films that explore themes of identity, family, and personal freedom. Originally from India, she brings a unique cultural perspective to her work, evident in films like Jalebi and How to Cook French Cousin. Through her production company, Sinema Inc., Ayushi continues to craft visually compelling stories, pushing boundaries and captivating audiences worldwide.
Jalebi is my attempt to share this very personal experience on screen, but also to create a space where others can reflect on their own relationships with family and their pursuit of happiness. It is a reflection of who I am and who many of us can be, no matter where we come from or what we believe.
As a filmmaker, my ultimate aim is for the audience to see themselves in Anya’s journey. I want them to feel the discomfort, the guilt, and the eventual release that comes when one makes the difficult decision to prioritize their well-being. This story is not just about one woman’s struggle, but about the myriad ways we all grapple with the same conflicts, whether in the context of love, career, or identity.
