ROGER GRASAS
Degree in Philosophy, Esthetics University of Barcelona, Master's Degree in Aesthetics and Art Theory and Graduate in Photography. EFFPC, Polytechnic University of Catalonia
Since the beginnings of the professional career as a photographer, the journey traces the storyline of his work and the territory becomes the nucleus of the discourse.
His project addresses the role that technology and post-capitalism reveal within the globalized world and the state of alienation that human beings face in an increasingly sophisticated, indescribable and saturated landscape of paradoxes.
In 2009, he began his first long-term photo project 'Min Turab', a series that reflects on the accelerated landscape and social changes of the oil monarchies of the Gulf region. The connection between space and history and concepts such as difference or hyper-reality are also common places in projects such as 'Atenea' (2012), 'Hotel, sweet hotel' or 'Ha Aretz' (2010-18), winning series of the Photoespaña Discovery Prize 2018, in which it performs reinterpretation of biblical landscapes.
