Director Statement

I created a dry, offbeat, Whodunnit Comedy called:
MRS. CARMODY & MRS. JELLINECK.

I directed and edited the third season called NO FUGU FOR YUGU. I completed post in February and we've already won multiple awards at film festivals! It's an exciting year waiting for what laurels will roll in next. I'm very proud and grateful to my production team, cast and crew!

Here's a brief description:
It's 1984.
The setting: Baroness Ipswich's Country House
The action: Murder.

Another murder has darkened the already damp London countryside!

Mrs. Carmody, an Irish lady detective & Mrs. Jellineck, ventriloquist dummy detective, are the most famous crime- solving duo in London!

Join the lady detectives, Jo the Cook, Baroness Ipswich, Hypnotist Dr. Kerns Eyesop, his assistant Miss Pennigree, for a feast that’s sure to bring heartburn and see
... WHO DUNNIT?!
Let's be About it!

I also directed a 6 episode, quirky, awkward, slice-of life comedy called HUMAN RESOURCES... about a working girl (MACKENZIE HORRAS) who gets her dream promotion but it's a nightmare job.

A brief description:
Competent, capable career-woman Maggie Matthews cannot wait to begin her new job as the HR director of a large telecom company - that is, until she discovers the chaos that is her new workplace.

Because Covid, I decided to learn how to edit Mrs. Carmody & Mrs. Jellineck. I also directed both Mrs. Carmody and Human Resources right before the pandemic. I had the footage, but post was a stand still for a few months with good reason. Then with the innocence of a babe, I decided to do post in-house, literally, on Mrs. Carmody & Mrs. Jellineck. While Mackenzie Horras edited non-stop on Human Resources. And so, Zoom was born....

I hope the viewer gets as much fun out of watching NO FUGU FOR YUGU as we had making it! I think ridiculous things are funny and I hope those watching the film do too.

I show run whatever I'm directing - so far. It was a sweet challenge to make these shows! In NO FUGU FOR YUGU, I'm multi-tasking like a true woman! Acting two roles, working the dummy’s (sorry Mrs. Jellineck) eyes and mouth, costuming, doing Baroness’s hair, props, set design, and making lunch/Crafty! My house becomes our set and we shoot the whole shebang in a four day weekend. IT IS A RIOT!

I was hired to direct the 6 part web series HUMAN RESOURCES, created by Mackenzie Horras. It was wonderful working with DP Troy Smith (BLACKISH, MIXEDISH, LIZA ON DEMAND, KENAN). He shot using one camera an ALEXA which worked for our day-in-the-life, one-room shoot.

Directing comic geniuses like Julie Brister (GOLIATH), Chad Roberts (COUGAR TOWN, MODERN FAMILY), Salme Geransar (CLICKBAIT), Myles Cranford (PERRY MASON), Brendan Clifford (AFTER LATELY) was a true treat.

Both these projects were fulfilling to my sense of vision as a writer, producer and director. Also, the sense of collaboration nurtured in both these production teams is my aim as a director and something I hold dear.
