Director Statement

As the creator behind 'It's Not the Time,' I am thrilled to present a cinematic exploration that tries to challenge conventional norms in filmmaking, both narratively and technically. In the face of an impending disaster, the film delves into the essence of reality and belief, exploring life's profound mysteries through a psychological lens.

Set against the backdrop of an imminent earthquake, or so the town believes, the narrative unfolds as the community evacuates, leaving one individual unfazed. However, as the story concludes, unexpected truths surface. This revelation serves as a metaphorical journey, inviting the audience to question the authenticity of their own experiences.

'It's Not the Time' navigates the intricate interplay between reality and belief, urging viewers to contemplate the existential questions that permeate the human experience, drawing inspiration from Soren Kierkegaard's and other existentialist philosophers' thoughts.

One of my primary objectives with 'It's Not the Time' is to distance myself from mainstream cinema, opting instead for a unique and thought-provoking cinematic experience. Drawing inspiration from the French New Wave and the raw beauty of analogue filmmaking, I aimed to infuse the project with a distinct visual style. As a professional colorist, I brought my personal perspective to the film, showcasing that filmmaking can be both accessible and impactful, even on a modest budget of almost 500 USD.

This film was a labor of love and collaboration with a circle of exceptionally talented friends. From pre-production to post-production, I took on various roles, including writing, directing, storyboarding, sound design, color grading, and producing. This hands-on approach allowed me to infuse every frame with my vision and philosophy, resulting in a psychological, love, and mystery drama that challenges conventional storytelling norms.

'It's Not the Time' represents a personal and financial investment, with the entire budget shouldered by me. This commitment speaks to the passion and dedication poured into every aspect of the film. I aim to provoke thought and evoke emotions, pushing audiences to grapple with the profound questions, transcending the boundaries of traditional cinematic storytelling.
