It Takes So Little
“It Takes So Little” is a digitally drawn animated music video about the memories of a failed love. Through delicate symbolism and restrained emotion, it explores the fragile line between happiness and loss. Beneath its imagery lies a quiet presence — something unseen that gently connects what was lost with what still remains. In the end, the boy finds peace within himself and moves on with his life.

Benjamín Haverla is a filmmaker based in Martin, Slovakia. He studied at Private Secondary Technical School in Poprad, Slovakia. He's currently a student at the University of Creative Communication in Prague, Czech Republic, where he is studying animation and VFX. He started to make films when he was 12 years old. Later he gained success in film competitions for youth and children in Slovakia. As an actor, he collaborated on advertising for an ISIC company in Slovakia. In 2020 he first-time sent a short film abroad where he became a finalist. In 2021 he won some awards and nominations with his next short film "The Last Letter". After completing his film, he decided to gain new experiences in the filmmaking process by working as a background actor in movies such as "The Performance", "Family Pack (Netflix)", "Tattooist of Auschwitz". His goal is to create and bring new stories to the screen.
We began this project in 2023, and looking back, I’m deeply grateful that our small team stayed dedicated and brought it to completion. It was a long and often challenging journey, and I want to thank Nataša Strelová for her remarkable animation and my father for his beautiful musical composition. Their patience and trust kept the project alive when it could have easily stopped.
I chose to direct this film because it was born from personal experience. Through animation and music, I wanted to transform those emotions into something universal—inviting each viewer to find their own reflection within the story’s symbolism. Some have said I repeat myself by exploring love again, but I believe maturity changes how we see it. The same theme can hold new meanings when seen through different eyes and time.
This film also made me realize that love and understanding are not clichés—they’re what the world needs most, especially in a time marked by conflict and disconnection. Working on this project taught me that independent filmmaking is as much about art as it is about patience, trust, and valuing your collaborators. Every compromise, every delay, and every shared idea shaped this work into something sincere and alive.
