I grew up in Ashland, Ky for most of my life. I was born in Lexington, Ky and lived in Winchester till I was about 10 years old. I graduated from Paul G. Blazer in 2013 and am currently pursuing a communications degree at Morehead State University.
Back in 2015, I assisted in the Morehead State Film challenge and have pursued film since. I almost missed out on the opportunity as well, I noticed the poster and decided to ask around at the last minute for those who needed help. Since I was young, I have always been interested in cameras and producing content. I knew, even at a young age, that whatever I did I wanted a camera in my hand. I was really into storm chasing videos and that was what really kicked it off.
In the early 2010s I purchased my own camera and took pictures of everything, thus solidifying my interest in video. It wasn’t professional by any means but it was something I could experiment with. Using older gear, something I’m very open to today, has taught me a lot production skill. Experimenting is really where I can be creative while also gaining a newfound skill.
Having experienced multiple levels of failure and success, I’m mostly self taught. Simply put, I just love what I do and that's what keeps me going. I love everything about making movies. Its teamwork visualized. I want to push the limits of film through different mediums while also bringing back old ones, such as DV video and Hi 8.
Aesthetics are huge part of who I am. I love experimenting with different visual formats. This is in part due to nostalgia and storytelling.
This is just a small part of who I am and I hope to share more through film.
