Michael Antonio Keane is a Cork born Irish/Spanish film director and screenwriter currently studying for a BA (Hons) in Film at the National Film School (IADT). He brings a multilingual, cross-cultural perspective to his work, with a strong commitment to Irish stories and themes. Michael’s work explores personal and socially resonant subjects, grounded in a deep connection to Ireland’s cultural and cinematic landscape.
Into The Silence explores the intertwined themes of resilience, recovery, and the healing power of creativity. Bastien's journey through trauma is depicted through his music, a coping mechanism that serves as an ode to the friend he has lost. The transformative role of music, which becomes Bastien's sanctuary, reveals how creativity can be a powerful tool for healing. Simultaneously, the film delves into friendship and loss, as well as the tension between the passion of DJ-ing and the dangers of rave culture. These dualities form the heart of the narrative, as Bastien confronts his trauma while navigating the risks and rewards of his world.
