Mauricio Reyes is a Mexican-American filmmaker based in the Washington, DC- Metro region. He recently graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Film and Video Studies with a concentration in Directing from George Mason University.
Mauricio has had a passion for film from a young age. Coming from an immigrant family, Mauricio grew up in a household where his morals and beliefs revolved around his family. Because of this his work explores the themes of family, tragedy, and self-discovery.
The idea to direct this film came when COVID-19 reached our shores and stay at home orders began to take effect. In order to save up money because no income was coming in from my non-essential job, I stayed with my brother and his fiancé during quarantine. It felt awkward staying for a long period of time because I witnessed what were supposed to be private arguments and conversations between them. From this experience, the idea for this script came to fruition. Being sheltered with your significant other 24/7 can take a toll on a relationship, especially if there are unresolved conflicts within it. And it is that point of tension that became the focal point in the story.
