Director Statement


The idea for the short film "Inside" was born from reflecting on the duality of human beings and the masks we wear to achieve our goals. This fantasy–surreal film follows a group of friends who gather in a house to record a video filled with flattery and carefully crafted statements, hoping to win the favor of a powerful figure connected to the system in order to secure funding for their film. But when they play the video back on the television, their inner truth is revealed in a distorted and unexpected way; the TV, like a magical mirror, exposes their inner selves and turns their words into the opposite of what they intended to say.

To create the atmosphere of "Inside", I used surreal elements such as exaggerated colors, unconventional lighting, and fluid camera movements to portray the chaos and inner conflict of the characters. My goal was to make the audience question sincerity, power, and self-deception. Are we truly what we present to the world?

"Inside" is an attempt to challenge the contrast between appearance and reality in a world full of performances. With its fantastical language and sharp humor, the film invites us to look into our own inner truth. I hope this work finds the opportunity to connect with audiences at your festival, which values creative and thought-provoking narratives.
