Incurable

The disease had hit him a long time ago. But today, there seems to be a respite, and who knows, maybe a glimpse of hope to recover. Anyway a permanent anxiety, and the fear that the nightmare might come back one day, will cast a shadow of despair over this evening that had begun nicely.

Director Biography - Frédéric Roussel

Born in Brussels, Belgium, where I live, I practice and teach Drawing. My main concern is telling, be it by ways of words alone, words and drawings, words and photos, no matter if I cross the boundaries between art fields. Feeling concerned by the intricacies image is rich of, I like to explore the ties linking pictures to words and sound. I am also fond of nature, and my stories mirror it to some extent. I love challenges, such as making films on a shoestring, in the back of a garage...

Director Statement

As with my other films, this is an adaptation of a photo-tale I had made before. I reused the stills to make this short movie, which, thanks to the medium of cinema, has nothing to do with the photo-tale it comes from. There is a mood, a grasping chain of events that cinema alone is able to provide, and that were absent of the photo-tale. The music of Jonathan Harvey adds something of its own to this process.
