Ignis Blue

Back in 1980, five-year-old Mark Fair is playing in his front yard in Canton, Ohio. Having found one of his older brother’s M-80 fireworks, Mom and Dad at the grocery store, he sets about igniting it by himself. Holding the tiny explosive in his hand, the wick ignites on its own and explodes before he can react.

Mark awakens to find he is in a hospital with his family in the room around him. Mark’s father, Darryl (29) calls for the nurse who enters the room and then immediately exits to find the doctor. Mark’s mother, Pamela (26) leans over to hug him, while his older brother Clyde (10) stands off in the background.
Young Mark sits up in bed, bewildered, and asks what happened. Pamela tells him that he was playing with his brother’s fireworks, and one of them seems to have gone off too close to him, but they do not know why he was unconscious. In the background, Clyde is silently crying, as Pamela calls him over. She tells Clyde it is alright, Mark is fine, but Clyde still cries.

The doctor enters the room, and Darryl watches him closely as he examines Mark. After a while the doctor pushes his chair back away from Mark to address Darryl and Pamela. He tells them that there is no apparent reason for Mark to have been unconscious for two days. Mark tells them the M-80 exploded in his hand, but there was no sign of injury and no reason for him to be unconscious.

Mark is cleared for release from the hospital and the family all leave for home. It’s night-time when they reach home, and all are exhausted as they prepare for bed. Pamela is in Mark’s room to tuck him in when Mark asks her does she know what happened to him.

Pamela replies that sometimes God works in ways we don’t understand on purpose. He does it to see if we TRULY trust Him.
A mysterious blue flame appears in the Antarctic and starts to spread across the planet, engulfing everything in its path. Nothing can extinguish the flames, to which children and animals are attracted. Even across oceans and lakes, the flame spreads. A lone African American, former soldier turned Vatican Cardinal, Cardinal Marcus Fair (50, Black Male) is somehow mysteriously connected to the flames and their directions across the globe.

Military Major Savage (34, white female) makes the connection that the flames seem to emanate wherever he dreams. Major Savage travels to the Vatican with the approval of her superior, Major General, Justin Slidell (53), to bring in Cardinal Fair for study, if he agrees. Cardinal Fair agrees, and he and Major Savage soon discover the flames seem to destroy some, while taking others somewhere else.

The mystery is slowly uncovered that the blue flames are a doorway, a test for humanity, taking only those deserving into a new plane of existence on the other side. Cardinal Fair was somehow chosen at the age of five years old as a conduit for these flames and the key to the righteous of mankind’s survival.
