Thomas is a director and creative all-rounder from Melbourne, Australia. Majoring in Screen Production at Swinburne University, Thomas gained experience crewing various student film projects. Since childhood he has always loved being behind a camera and making videos. Now, Thomas works as a creative specialist for several Victorian public hospitals, including the Royal Children’s Hospital. Thomas strives for perfection in his work, with a vision to telling engaging and effective stories that leave an impact on the audience.
Having the opportunity to direct this film with my crew was both special and bittersweet, as it is the last film that we will produce as students. This film tells a raw story about sacrifice, and it is told through the memories of a young woman who makes a difficult decision. Despite the unavoidability of her cancer diagnosis, she knows that sparing her partner from the torment of slowly seeing the love of his life fade away means that he can live a happy life, especially after losing his mother to a similar fate.
I want the audience to see through the eyes of Cam and connect to her story of sacrifice. I also hope that young people who can relate to terminal illness are able to see their perspective brought to the screen, which is rarely explored. Working with both such a talented actor and actress was a privilege and I feel that this film would not be the same without their stellar performances. Both were amazing to work with and connected to their roles in their own unique ways, truly bringing the characters to life.
