From making home videos with his cousins to pursuing a dream in filmmaking, Ansh has always loved movies and always will. During quarantine, when he had a lot of time on his hands, he decided to write his first screenplay. Overly ambitious as always, he wrote a feature-length story that was riddled with flaws. But throughout the years he fixed them and soon he was writing as much as he could.
From there, he co-founded his highschool's first film club and pioneered a year-long project. The project was Ansh's first big production and it involved all members of the club pulling their weight.
Currently he is at the University of Virginia studying Computer Science and Cinematography. He continues to pursue his passion and is constantly driven by ambition.
During a get-together with some hometown friends, I was throwing around some movie ideas for my next project as were they. At that moment, I found a fascinating concept about a man who learns that he is turning blind. I initially tried to adapt this story as a romantic movie but it quickly showed me that it can't work. Then I tried to figure out what I care about and what impacts me. This is how I tied my relationship with my sister to the story, bringing the film together. Throughout the summer, I spent writing the script with many of my friends helping me edit.
The next academic year, I took a class called Overcranked with Doug Grissom and Paul Wagner. This class was split into two semesters, fall for writing and spring for directing. I took the script I wrote in the summer and spent the whole fall revising and perfecting it. It wasn't until the end of the year 2023, that I finally cracked the script.
Over winter break, I began pre-production with casting done through the Virginia Film Office and Virginia Production Alliance. This is also where I introduced the project to my friend and talented DP, Kenneth Nguyen. The next couple of months were filled with work as we started to film and edit. Fortunately, we had everything work out for us, and were lucky to show the film to friends and family at the UVA Overcranked Premiere.
