4 ACTS

4 Acts is a performance play consisted of 4 different poetic monologues based on conceptual writing, spoken word and beat poetry, united by the same attitude : a need to fight against injustice, critical and sarcastic thesis towards todays' political scenery, a will to believe in our inner power, a desperate feeling to yell a "Why" and a roar against the power machines that control people's lives.

It is a silent yet loud scream against brutality, an artistic resistance against insane authorities, and a call to action for each of us to work towards a better life. 4 ACTS are different poems/texts connected by the need to fearlessly invite freedom, truth, and love into our collective consciousness.

Writer Biography - Alkistis Voulgari

Alkistis Voulgari was born in Athens, Greece. She is an actress and dancer, specialising in the dance technique of Isadora Duncan.
In the last two years she has started her own filmic experiments and performance creations incorporating theatre, poetry, literature, dance and radio art.

Her love of nature has driven her art in unexpected directions to find ways to combine her vision with a natural way of life. She is currently working on this perspective while her online performances, films and artworks travel to different countries, festivals and exhibitions such as Avatar Center (60sec Radio) and Porcovete Pictures in Canada, UNU - Flores in Dresden, International Multimedia Art Festival in Serbia, Verti Films in Prague and On the Rocks Film Festival in Italy. Her latest live performance "Σ.Ω.Π.Α." was presented at SOZOPOLIS in Athens.

The experimental short film "Dancing in the Silence" from the "TERRACE PROJECT" was presented at the Biennale Internazionale D'Arte di Bari and received an honourable mention at the Navajo Film Festival. During 2020 she collaborated with The Museum of Dead Words in Brooklyn / NY - the Online Series, interpreting the word EVIL through the performance "The Fight Within".

She has been an official member of CID (International Council of Dance - Unesco) since 2018, and is also a writer, having published her own e-books on the web.

Her vision is to reconnect theatre with its natural roots, to experiment and explore the primitive idea in an open, natural space.

Writer Statement

I am an interdisciplinary artist experimenting with body movement, film, theatre, poetry, intuitive writing, meditation and meditative dance. My background is in theatre studies, classical music and singing, and Isadora Duncan dance technique. Through yoga practice, butoh and indigenous dances, I later found a vast field of sound and body experimentation, exploring the primitive, conceptual sounds and freedom of movement within a meditative state of artistic expression. My vision is to bring Theatre and the Arts back to nature, discovering new dynamics and a sense of rebirth. I believe in the soul and its limitless horizons. I believe in the non - at - all - perfect Human and our potential for true love and compassion. What always moves me is the desire to resist brutal insanity and an endless hope that people will someday feel their power.
