I Love My Upstairs Neighbor
After overhearing her upstairs neighbor screaming at her husband, Chelsea spirals into obsession as she attempts to figure out what went down, hopeful for a romantic outcome in her own favor. Although a comedy at its core, "I Love My Upstairs Neighbor" is played as a straight-thriller, similar to Thoroughbreds, Date Night, A Simple Favor, or dare we say... a horny, lesbian Nancy Drew.

Nicole Machon and Jamie Rice met in 2012 at Florida State University’s College of Motion Picture Arts. What started as a friendship quickly transformed into an unstoppable collaboration as they began to find their filmmaking voices. Since 2016, Nicole and Jamie have made a name for themselves working in film and television development and production in New York. Their combined resume consists of assisting writers, directors, and producers Chris Rock, Nicole Holofcener, Liz Garbus, Fred Berger, Sara Colangelo, Caroline Jaczko, and Cindy Chupack. They have worked in various production roles on critically acclaimed films and television shows including Blackkklansman, If Beale Street Could Talk, Oceans 8, Hearts Beat Loud, Broad City, Search Party, Mozart in the Jungle, Difficult People, and Younger, as well as upcoming films Bad Education, On the Rocks, What Is Life Worth, and Lost Girls.
As a follow up to their award-winning thesis film "Emma Inspired", Nicole and Jamie have teamed up again with Chelsea Holmes for “I Love My Upstairs Neighbor”. Their desire to create slice of life and situational female-driven comedies, both light and dark, stems from a shared love of films such as Frances Ha, Little Miss Sunshine, The Favourite, Juno, Eighth Grade, Napoleon Dynamite, and Lady Bird. However, it is also imperative to note that they remain separately influenced by Talladega Nights (Jamie) and Requiem for a Dream (Nicole). They plan on making movies together until they are literally court ordered to stop.
"I Love My Upstairs Neighbor" is based on the very real time Jamie heard her neighbors screaming at each other and simply couldn't focus on anything else that day!
