Director Biography - Christopher Nunez

Christopher Nuñez grew up in Miami and is of Cuban descent. He is a multifaceted American talent known for his profound contributions to the art of tattooing, as well as his roles as a television personality, producer, and director. He first gained widespread recognition as a prominent cast member of the groundbreaking reality television series "Miami Ink," which aired on TLC from 2005 to 2008.

A true artist at heart, Chris Nuñez spent a decade traveling the globe, immersing himself in diverse cultural traditions and artistic styles across Europe and Brazil. These experiences not only honed his craft but also broadened his artistic perspective. Among all his travels, his time in the Amazon rainforest stands out as particularly transformative. It was there that Chris formed a deep connection with indigenous communities, a bond that would profoundly influence both his life and work. His dedication to these communities extends beyond art; Chris is a passionate advocate for the preservation of their traditions and knowledge.

In January 2012, Chris's expertise in the tattoo world was further recognized when he was cast as a judge on Spike network's reality competition series, Ink Master. For 13 seasons, he brought his keen eye and artistic insight to the show, helping to shape the next generation of tattoo artists.

Despite the show's success, Chris chose not to renew his contract, opting instead to pursue his passion for filmmaking.

He made his directorial debut with a docuseries he began filming in 2017, telling the complex and compelling story of an indigenous spiritual leader and his work in preserving the Amazon rainforest, rescuing lost indigenous cultures and lands, and resurrecting ancient wisdom. Over the next five years, Chris and his partners traveled back and forth to the Amazon, and through these years of joint efforts, his production company was formed.

Chris co-founded Make.Believe.Pictures in 2022, a production company dedicated to creating long- and short-format content that pushes artistic boundaries. Among their notable projects is the artist-focused series High Res, which explores the intersection of art and technology. The series delves into the minds of muralists, painters, graffiti artists, tattooists, gamers, and tech pioneers, offering a unique glimpse into the creative process.

Chris also served as an executive producer for the Netflix hit Tattoo Redo, further solidifying his influence in the world of television and tattoo culture.

Fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese, Chris continues to explore new creative avenues while maintaining his commitment to the art of tattooing and his advocacy for indigenous communities.
